Biography
Earth’s guardian is the benevolent half of a Namekian who deliberately split himself to qualify for the office. That administrative detail has a major consequence: his life is tied to Piccolo’s, and Earth’s dragon balls only exist while he lives.
His loss in the Saiyan saga is the arc’s real blow: it strips the Earth side of its safety net and forces the story off the planet.
