Synopsis
For Dragon Ball Z’s twentieth anniversary, Toei Animation re-edited the original series: restored and reframed picture, re-recorded soundtrack and, above all, a cut that removes most of the episodes with no manga counterpart. The story from the Saiyans to Cell fits in 98 episodes instead of 194.
The second wave, subtitled “The Final Chapters” internationally, gives the Majin Boo saga the same treatment from 2014. Kai adds no story of its own: it offers a tighter reading, close to what a manga reader knows.
It is the version through which many viewers now discover the Z era on legal services, which earns it a place in these archives next to the original series.
