Series register DBS
The canonical sequel: twelve universes, gods, and a ceiling pushed higher.

DBS
Dragon Ball Super picks the story up in the gap left by the end of Majin Buu, with Akira Toriyama writing. The series’ first move is to widen the map: above the known gods sit Gods of Destruction, their angel attendants, and eleven other universes.
The arcs alternate registers. Beerus imposes an opponent you cannot beat, only impress. Frieza’s return treats death as an administrative formality. The Tournament of Power puts the survival of Universe 7 on the line in an arena where everyone fights at once.
Super is also the series that gives Vegeta an arc of his own again, and that installs the franchise’s divine register: a scale where energy is measured in control as much as in volume.

Story files
01DBSBattle of Gods
Fourteen episodes to reinstall the series and raise the ceiling one notch: above the known gods sit a God of Destruction, his angel attendant, and a scale where raw power is no longer enough. The pace is deliberately slow at first, domestic even, before the sky opens up.
02DBSReturn of Frieza
What is left of Frieza’s army uses the balls to bring their employer back. The return mostly serves to show what four months of training can do to a character who had never trained at all.
03DBSUniverse 6 vs Universe 7
Two Gods of Destruction settle a dispute with a five-on-five tournament between universes. This is the saga that properly opens Super’s cosmology and introduces the Saiyans of Universe 6.
04DBSGoku Black and Zamasu
Trunks returns from a future wrecked by an opponent wearing Goku’s face. Super’s darkest saga, and the one that treats time travel as an offence somebody eventually punishes.
05DBSTournament of Power
Eight universes, eighty fighters, one arena and forty-eight minutes: eliminated universes are erased. Super’s climax, and the largest melee in the franchise.
06DBSFilmDragon Ball Super: Broly (film)
The film that writes Broly into the continuity: the fall of Planet Vegeta told from Bardock’s side, exile on Vampa, then a fight on the ice that forces Goku and Vegeta to fuse into Gogeta. Frieza, once again, plays the recruiter.
Moro
A ten-million-year-old sorcerer breaks out of the galactic prison and devours planets’ energy. Goku and Vegeta join the Patrol; one learns Ultra Instinct from Merus, the other Spirit Fission on Yardrat. Exclusive to Toyotarō’s manga.
Granolah and the Heeters
The last Cerealian wishes to become the strongest in the universe to avenge his people, wiped out by Saiyans in Frieza’s service. Vegeta learns Ultra Ego from Beerus; the saga closes on Frieza’s return as Black Frieza.
09DBSFilmDragon Ball Super: Super Hero (film and manga)
The Red Ribbon Army is reborn around Dr. Hedo and his Gamma androids; Piccolo and Gohan, left alone on Earth, carry the film. The manga extends it with a prologue and an epilogue — the last chapters published in Akira Toriyama’s lifetime.
